Lot 751: A Vintage Porsgrund Porcelain Part Tea Service in the Farmers Rose Pattern
A vintage Porsgrund porcelain part tea service in the Farmers Rose pattern, comprising three cups and several matching saucers, together with a decorative lidded floral jar. The porcelain service is decorated with a traditional Rosemaling-style motif featuring vibrant red, blue, and yellow flowers against a white ground. Each saucer is designed with a subtly scalloped and moulded rim. The accompanying lidded jar is modelled in the round to resemble a budding flower, with the body and lid formed from overlapping petals in shaded pink and yellow glazes, finished with a handle in the shape of two green leaves. The base of each cup bears a circular green underglaze mark reading PORSGRUNN around the upper edge and NORGE at the bottom, containing a central anchor device beneath a crossed symbol and the letters P P. This mark confirms the manufacture by Porsgrunds Porselænsfabrik in Norway. The floral lidded jar is unmarked.
Condition report:
The porcelain service appears to be in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or professional repairs to the cups or saucers (photo 1). There is minor surface wear and occasional small firing specks in the glaze consistent with manufacture. The lidded floral jar appears intact, with no significant damage or loss to the moulded petals or leaf handle visible from the overhead perspective (photo 2).
