Lot 756: An Antique Ruby Red Glass Oil Lamp and Two Vintage Swarovski Decorative Glass Hand Bells
An antique ruby red glass oil lamp and two vintage decorative glass hand bells. The oil lamp is constructed in a hurricane style with a globular ruby red glass reservoir and a matching flared glass chimney, both of which appear to be blown glass. It features a brass-toned metal burner assembly with a circular wick-advance wheel. The wick adjuster knob bears a stamped circular mark, however, the characters are heavily worn and are not legible as a manufacturer name. The metal components show surface oxidation and a dark patina consistent with age. The lot includes two ornamental hand bells. The first is a clear glass hand bell with a faceted cut-crystal handle and two applied frosted glass flower ornaments featuring black bead centres. The second bell is formed from clear glass with an integrated moulded loop handle and is embellished with various multi-coloured, faceted synthetic gemstones in red, amber, blue, and purple. Both bells contain glass bead clappers suspended from fine metal chains.
Condition report:
The glass chimney and reservoir of the oil lamp show no visible chips or cracks (photo 1), though both components are dusty and the metal burner exhibits surface oxidation and patina (photo 2). The faceted crystal hand bell is in excellent condition with no visible damage to the glass or frosted flower elements (photo 2). The glass bell with loop handle is in good condition with all synthetic gemstones present and no visible chips to the glass (photo 2).
