Lot 770: A Vintage Royal Doulton Fine China Tea Set in the Autumn's Glory Pattern
A vintage Royal Doulton fine china tea set in the Autumn’s Glory pattern, consisting of two tea cups and two matching circular saucers housed in the original manufacturer’s box. Each piece is decorated with a transfer-printed motif of a yellow pear, purple plum, and red grapes amongst teal and autumn-toned leaves. The saucers feature a repeating border of this fruit design set within a dark blue rim band. The cups are of standard form with elegant, high-curved handles. The base of each cup bears a printed mark in black featuring a lion atop a crown crest surrounded by ‘ROYAL DOULTON ENGLAND’, above ‘Royal Doulton’ in script, ‘AUTUMN’S GLORY’, ‘LS 1086’, ‘© 1991 ROYAL DOULTON’, and ‘FINE CHINA’. The set is presented in its original blue cardboard box, printed with the ‘Royal Doulton’ name and crest. A white adhesive auction sticker is present on one saucer reading ‘HCP Auctions South West Lot 770 www.hcpauctions.net’.
Condition report:
The ceramic components are in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or crazing to the glaze (photo 1). The transfer-printed decoration remains crisp and vibrant across all pieces (photo 2). The original cardboard packaging exhibits signs of wear, including scuffing, creasing, and minor tearing to the opening flap and corners (photo 1).
