Lot 769: A Set of Five Vintage Mid-Century Tremar Pottery Studio Pottery Stoneware Goblets
A set of five vintage Mid-Century studio pottery stoneware goblets of hand-thrown pedestal form. Each vessel features a flared cylindrical cup set upon a waisted stem terminating in a wide, flared circular foot. The interiors and exteriors of the cups exhibit pronounced horizontal throwing rings under a mottled, textured glaze in tones of cream, grey, and brown. The goblets are each decorated with a single applied circular medallion in relief, depicting a Celtic-style knotwork motif finished in an unglazed or lightly glazed terracotta-coloured slip. One goblet bears two white adhesive labels: a printed label reading Lot 769 / HCP Auctions South West / www.hcpauctions.net and a secondary label with the handwritten number 46738. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible to the exterior or bases of the pieces.
Condition report:
The set is in good overall condition with no visible chips, cracks, or restorations apparent to any of the five goblets. The variations in glaze tone and texture are characteristic features of hand-thrown studio pottery and are not considered defects.
