Lot 772: A Collection of Vintage Hand-painted Earthenware Tea and Dinner Wares
A collection of vintage hand-painted earthenware tea and dinner wares, comprising three large dinner plates, one medium charger, seven side plates, one large breakfast cup and saucer, and eight standard teacups and saucers. The set is constructed from thick-potted earthenware with a cream-white glaze, decorated throughout with a vibrant rustic botanical motif. The hand-painted design includes large magenta-pink blossoms, yellow flowers, and small blue florets, accented by green foliage and orange-brown stalks of grain. Each piece is finished with a hand-painted blue line and dash border to the rim. A white rectangular adhesive auction label is present on one piece reading HCP Auctions South West HC Lot 772 www.hcpauctions.net. No maker’s marks, manufacturer names, or backstamps are visible to the underside of the pieces.
Condition report:
The service is in generally good condition with signs of age and use consistent with earthenware of this type. Fine glaze crazing is visible across several pieces (photo 1). Minor nicks and small areas of glaze wear are present on the rims of the stacked side plates (photo 2). The hand-painted decoration remains bright and well-defined, and no significant chips or cracks were observed to the larger plates or teacup handles (photo 3).
