Lot 831: A Vintage Jacobean fashion Carved Oak Bookcase / Display Cabinet
A vintage carved oak bookcase / display cabinet in the Jacobean fashion, constructed with a dark-stained finish. The piece features twin doors set with leaded glass panels arranged in a geometric pattern of diamonds and elongated hexagons. The cabinet stiles are decorated with a carved repeating lunette motif, and the unit stands on a plinth base with a decoratively shaped front apron. The interior is fitted with a single fixed shelf. The cabinet is secured with two small brass-toned metal latches fitted to the meeting stiles. No maker’s marks, signatures, or manufacturer labels are visible. Small green and white adhesive labels are present on the exterior and interior edges.

Condition report:
There is significant wear to the dark finish throughout the exterior, with the lighter timber visible along the top edges, corners, and base (photo 1). Numerous surface scratches and scuffs are present across the wooden surfaces (photo 1). The leaded glass panels are heavily soiled with dust and surface grime but appear intact without cracks (photo 1). The metal hardware shows surface oxidation and wear consistent with use (photo 1). The piece appears structurally sound (photo 2).
