Lot 840: A Vintage Campingaz Lumogaz R Metal and Frosted Glass Camping Lantern
A vintage Campingaz Lumogaz R metal and frosted glass camping lantern, supplied with its original manufacturer packaging. The lantern is constructed with a central cylindrical frosted glass globe held within a protective steel wire frame and surmounted by a domed metal top cap. The lower section consists of a burner assembly equipped with a dark red plastic control knob, which is marked with a white directional arrow and plus and minus icons to regulate gas flow. The unit is designed to be mounted directly onto a compatible gas cylinder. The frosted glass globe bears a printed Campingaz diamond logo. The original cardboard box features prominent red lettering reading LUMOGAZ, the Campingaz diamond logo containing the words CAMPING gaz, and the text INTERNATIONAL. A capital R in a square box is also visible, along with a partial numeric mark reading 200.
Condition report:
The lantern is in a used vintage condition with visible surface oxidation, pitting, and light rust present across the metal frame and top cap (photo 2). The burner assembly shows signs of previous heat exposure and discolouration. The frosted glass globe remains intact but has an accumulation of dust. The original cardboard box is in poor condition, showing significant tearing, crushing, and soiling, and is missing its top flaps (photo 1). The item is sold as an untested collectible.
