Lot 896: A Mid-Century Mahogany Veneer Chest of Drawers
A mid-century mahogany veneer chest of drawers featuring three long drawers arranged vertically. The chest is constructed with mahogany-toned wood veneers and sits on a plinth base characterised by a scalloped front apron and short block feet. The top drawer front is accented with carved foliate scrollwork at either end. Each drawer is fitted with a pair of circular metal pull knobs featuring a textured, patterned central design. A modern rectangular adhesive auction lot sticker is affixed to the top surface reading PCP Auctions South West Lot 896. There are no legible maker’s marks or stamps visible on the piece.
Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
Condition report:
The chest is in poor aesthetic condition and requires full restoration. The top surface and drawer fronts exhibit extensive scratching, scuffing, and significant wear to the finish (photo 1). There are numerous prominent water stains and circular marks across the drawer fronts, most notably on the middle drawer (photo 1). The lower sections and feet show heavy scuffing and finish loss, with minor white paint splashes present near the bottom edge (photo 1).
