Lot 957: Antique Ebonised Glazed Two-Door Wall Cabinet / Dresser Top
An antique ebonised glazed two-door wall cabinet / dresser top, dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The unit is constructed from a dark-stained wood, likely pine, with a heavily worn ebonised finish. It features two glazed doors, each containing three horizontal glass panes that are currently backed with a cream-coloured paper or fabric printed with a repeating circular floral pattern. The cabinet is framed by two distinctive turned and fluted corner pillars. The top surface remains rough and unfinished, indicating its original use as the upper section of a larger two-piece dresser or as a unit intended for wall mounting. A single white ceramic pull knob remains on the right-hand door. A white adhesive label is affixed to the upper left pane reading LOT 957 and the number 13 is handwritten on the glass in blue marker.

Condition report:
The cabinet is in a distressed, as-found condition and requires significant restoration. The ebonised finish is heavily chipped and worn across all surfaces, particularly the edges, mouldings, and turned pillars (photo 1). The left-hand door knob is missing, and the doors are currently held closed by a length of white twine (photo 1). There is a large number 13 handwritten in blue marker on the glass of the left door (photo 1). The top of the unit is rough and unfinished with signs of previous attachment to another component (photo 1). General accumulation of dust and cobwebs is present throughout.
