Lot 257: A Cast Stone Shell-Form Bird Bath
A cast stone shell-form bird bath of two-part construction. The piece features a shallow bowl modelled as a large scallop shell, resting upon a decorative tapering pedestal base. The base is of hexagonal form, heavily ornamented with moulded acanthus leaf motifs and foliate scrollwork. The material is a grey reconstituted stone with a textured surface finish consistent with cast garden ornaments. No maker’s marks or signatures were identified on the piece.
