Lot 541: A Vintage Musical Bird Cage Jewellery Box and a Collection of UK Commemorative Coins
A vintage musical jewellery box designed as a singing bird automaton in a cage. The piece features a rectangular base upholstered in turquoise blue velvet, containing a single drawer with a brass-toned pull knob. Surmounting the base is a gold-toned wire cage with a domed top and a top ring handle. The interior of the cage contains two artificial red roses and a small bird with yellow and orange feathers perched on a central branch. The drawer contains a collection of United Kingdom commemorative cupro-nickel crowns. The coins are housed in individual plastic flips and one specialized holder. One coin is presented in a blue card holder with a white printed inscription reading TSB and TRUSTEE SAVINGS BANK in block lettering. The coins feature the obverse portrait of Elizabeth II with the legend ELIZABETH II DEI GRATIA REGINA F D. Reverse designs include the traditional St. George and the Dragon.
