Lot 556: A Set of Four Porcelain Collector Plates After Ludwig Richter
A set of four porcelain decorative plates featuring polychrome transfer-printed rural landscape scenes. The artwork, after the German painter Ludwig Richter, depicts idealised nineteenth-century European village life. The featured plate illustrates a group of figures and a horse-drawn wagon beside a timber-framed dwelling. Each plate bears the signature Ludwig Richter printed in the lower right area of the scene. The reverse of the plates features a printed circular factory mark that is not clearly legible as a specific manufacturer. The plates are housed in their original polystyrene inserts and cardboard storage boxes. One box bears a typed white adhesive label reading EARLY MORNING MILK.
