Lot 580: Two Cornish Serpentine Style Stone Maritime Decorative Items
A collection consisting of a lighthouse-form desktop thermometer and a seagull figurine. The thermometer is fashioned in the shape of a lighthouse tower made from polished dark stone, featuring a carved gallery and lantern top. It is set upon a naturalistic, rough-hewn grey stone base and contains an inset liquid-in-glass thermometer mounted to the side. The seagull figurine depicts a bird in flight, rendered in a white-painted material with black-tipped wings and a yellow beak. It is mounted on a polished, rounded base of mottled dark green and red stone, characteristic of Cornish serpentine. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on either piece.
