Lot 668: A Pair of Victorian-Style Embossed Brass Swing-Arm Gas Light Wall Brackets
A pair of cast and machined brass adjustable wall brackets of square-section form. Each arm is decorated with a repeating embossed pattern of five-pointed stars set within a diaper-patterned field. The arms are mounted to circular wall plates via swivel joints, allowing for lateral movement. The wall plates are ornamented with gadrooned and scrolled borders and are topped with decorative ball and spire-form finials. The distal end of each arm terminates in a three-spoke circular gallery designed to hold a glass shade, featuring a central hollow tube for gas delivery or electrical wiring and an outer rim with threaded set screws. No maker’s marks, signatures, or registration numbers are visible on the metal surfaces.
