Lot 690: A Trio of Novelty Earthenware and Chinese Rice-Grain Porcelain Teapots
A trio of novelty earthenware and Chinese rice-grain porcelain teapots. The collection includes two earthenware vessels modelled in the form of traditional cottages, one featuring a brown tiled roof, red shutters, and black-outlined windows amongst green climbing foliage, and a second smaller vessel with blue window frames and stylised green trees. The porcelain teapot is of globular form, featuring underglaze blue geometric and floral borders and characteristic translucent rice-grain piercings. It is complete with a fitted lid bearing a raised floral finial and a woven rattan swing handle attached to two small porcelain loop ears. No maker’s marks or backstamps are visible to the bases or bodies of the pieces.
