Lot 707: A Vintage Shell Wall Hanging and a Pair of Glass Fishing Floats
A vintage shell wall hanging and a pair of glass fishing floats. The wall hanging comprises a rectangular grid of fine brown twine suspended between two horizontal wooden batons. A variety of sea shells are tied within the grid, including colourful orange, pink, and white scallop valves, small gastropod shells, and a piece of iridescent abalone. The pair of glass fishing floats consists of two hand-blown spheres, one in teal-blue glass and one in clear glass with a pale green tint. Each float is encased in hand-knotted brown jute netting and joined by a segment of multi-strand white and brown rope. The clear glass float features a prominent pontil mark at one end, indicating traditional hand-blown manufacture. No maker’s marks or signatures are visible on any of the items.
