Lot 708: A Large Hand-painted Cast Iron 150kg Industrial Weight
A large hand-painted cast iron 150kg industrial weight of spherical form, likely of maritime or heavy engineering origin. The heavy metal body features an integrated double-loop handle at the top, currently threaded with a length of thick, knotted natural fibre rope. The sphere has been repurposed with a hand-painted folk art coastal landscape, depicting a shoreline with blue waters, green headlands, and rocky outcrops. The reverse side retains a pale blue painted finish and bears raised, cast-in inscriptions in Spanish. The legible text includes FABRICADO followed by PROBADO A and the weight 150 KG; the uppermost line is worn and illegible. The overall construction is heavy and utilitarian, with the naive folk art decoration providing a contrasting aesthetic finish to the industrial substrate.
