Lot 871: Mid-20th Century Oak Tudor Revival Linenfold Bureau Chest
An oak fall-front bureau in the Tudor Revival style, likely of British manufacture. The piece is constructed from oak with a dark stained finish and features a fall-front desk upper section. The exterior of the fall-front is decorated with two panels of carved linenfold motif. The desk opens to reveal a fitted interior containing eight pigeonhole compartments and two small internal drawers with turned wooden knobs. The writing slope is inset with a red faux-leather skiver featuring gold-tooled borders. The base of the bureau consists of a chest of five drawers arranged in a two-over-three configuration. The drawers are graduated in size, fitted with turned wooden pull knobs, and set within a moulded frame. A small rectangular metal plaque is inset into the front carcass at the upper right-hand side, just above the drawers; the characters on this plaque are not legible. No other marks or signatures are visible.
