Lot 1: A Heavy-Duty Industrial Triple and Double Block and Tackle with Synthetic Rope

A heavy-duty block and tackle system of industrial construction, comprising one triple-sheave block and one double-sheave block threaded with a substantial length of blue rope. The blocks feature weathered wooden shells with rounded cheeks, reinforced by iron or steel internal straps and external pins. The triple-sheave block is fitted with a large rusted iron hook and shackle attachment at the crown, while the smaller double-sheave block serves as the opposing component. The sheaves appear to be manufactured from a dark, dense metal or composite material, designed to accommodate the thick gauge of the line. The included rope is a three-strand, hawser-laid synthetic variety, likely polypropylene, finished in a distinctive blue colour.

Condition report:
The set is in a heavily weathered and used condition. The wooden shells exhibit significant wear, including splitting to the timber, surface abrasions, and substantial loss of the original white painted finish (photo 2). All metal components, including the hook, shackle, and straps, show heavy surface oxidation and rust (photo 2 and 4). The blue synthetic rope is soiled with dirt and grease throughout its length and shows signs of fraying and wear consistent with outdoor maritime or industrial use (photo 3). The mechanical functionality of the sheaves has not been tested, and the load-bearing integrity of the components cannot be guaranteed; the lot is sold as a decorative or collectible item only.
