Lot 686: A Framed Crosby Family Name Origin and Heraldic Summary
Not sold
A framed printed genealogical document detailing the history and origin of the surname Crosby. The text is printed on a cream-coloured textured paper and traces the name’s evolution from the Irish MacCrossan of Leix to the English locational roots in Cumberland, Lincoln, and Yorkshire. The central text is enclosed within a decorative foliate border featuring acorns and oak leaves, interspersed with various heraldic shields. The title is rendered in a large red and black Gothic font with a decorative initial F. The document includes a blazon describing the Crosby coat of arms, featuring three swords in saltire and a lion rampant, alongside the family motto INVILA FLOREBIT JUSTUS. The print is finished with a red wax-style seal applied to the upper right corner. It is housed in a blue mount within a wooden frame with a gold-toned inner lip. A small, illegible copyright notice is printed at the bottom left.
