A vintage hand bell of traditional form, constructed from solid cast brass. The bell body features a flared mouth and shows evidence of being lathe-turned after casting, with visible concentric horizontal rings around the exterior surface. It is fitted with a turned wooden handle, finished in a dark reddish-brown stain and polished lacquer, which is secured to the bell by a brass ferrule. A small brass ball finial terminates the top of the handle. The bell is of substantial construction, typical of mid-20th century school or dinner bells, and lacks any visible maker’s marks or inscriptions on the metal or wooden components.
