Lot 164: A Pair of Copper Trumpet Vases on Cast Decorative Bases
A pair of copper vases, each featuring a cylindrical body with a flared rim, designed in a trumpet fashion. The main bodies are constructed from rolled copper showing a natural aged patina with varying tones of orange and brown. These cylindrical forms are mounted onto heavy, cast square bases with a scalloped, decorative edge. The bases appear to be a copper-alloy or bronze, exhibiting a significant light-coloured oxidation layer and evidence of verdigris, particularly around the joinery and within the interior of the flared rims. The construction suggests a late 19th or early 20th-century origin, possibly influenced by the Arts and Crafts movement. No maker’s marks, signatures, or stamps are visible on the exterior surfaces or the interior of the flared rims.
