Start price: £5

Estimated price: £5 - £10

Buyer's Premium: 20%

Sold for: £22

A vintage two-piece hand-painted cupboard in the folk art tradition, constructed from softwood, likely pine. The unit comprises a recessed upper cabinet and a projecting lower cupboard section. The entire piece is finished in a vibrant crimson red lacquer, accented with teal blue inset panels. These panels are decorated with hand-painted scrolling foliate and floral motifs, consistent with Scandinavian rosemaling or Alpine folk traditions. The upper section features a single door with a central floral scroll motif beside an open three-shelf compartment. The lower section includes a single drawer above a corresponding cupboard door, both fitted with brass hardware including drop handles, a circular backplate, and a turn-key latch. The panels above and below the doors are decorated with horizontal teal bands featuring simplified wave-like scrollwork. There are no maker’s marks or signatures visible on the exterior surfaces of the piece.

Large-scale furniture items; exact dimensions are not provided.
