A trio of porcelain collector plates from the Den grimme ælling series, based on the Hans Christian Andersen fairy tale. Each circular plate features a detailed, multi-coloured illustration by the artist Karen Jean Bornholt. The scenes depict various narrative moments, including the hatching of cygnets, a swan amongst waterfowl, and a swan interacting with a cat and a hen. The artist’s initials KJB are visible in the lower right foreground of two plates. Each plate is accompanied by a paper Udgivercertifikat (Publisher’s Certificate) featuring a circular crest with a crown and the letters G K H. The certificates identify the maker as Grande Copenhagen and the artist as Karen Jean Bornholt, noting that the edition was limited to 50 firing days. The certificates bear handwritten plate numbers 4453 A, 931 B, and 1959.
