Lot 322: A Vintage Enamel and Hand-Painted Metal Bread Bin

Live auction will start in __ days and __ hours

Start price: £3

Estimated price: £3 - £5

Buyer's Premium: 20%

A vintage enamel and hand-painted metal bread bin, constructed from heavy tinplate with a dark green ground. The cylindrical container features two rolled side handles and a domed lid with a central loop handle. The lid is decorated with cream-coloured circular motifs spelling out BREAD in stylized black serif lettering, framed by hand-painted green foliate scrolls. The body of the vessel is decorated in a folk-art style with two roosters facing a central egg and wheat ears. The interior is finished with a white enamel coating. While the style and hand-painted decoration are consistent with late 20th-century folk art, there are no maker’s marks, signatures, or printed brand names visible on the body or the base of the item to confirm a specific artist or manufacture. The base and lid bear multiple modern auction house labels and price stickers including a white rectangular lot sticker reading HCP Auctions South West Lot 322 and a green rectangular sticker with handwritten numbers 5 7 66.
