Lot 806: An Edwardian Inlaid Mahogany Side Chair
An antique side chair from the Edwardian period, constructed from mahogany with Sheraton-fashion marquetry decoration. The chair features a rounded shield-back frame with a central splat set with a hexagonal panel. This panel is decorated with fine marquetry inlays in contrasting woods, likely boxwood or satinwood, depicting a neoclassical urn flanked by foliate scrolls and swags. The back stiles and frame are further embellished with line-inlaid stringing. The chair is of stuff-over construction, upholstered in a burgundy textured fabric with a small geometric pattern to both the seat and a rectangular back panel. It is supported on square tapered front legs and slightly splayed rear legs. A white adhesive inventory tag is present on the upper left back rail.
