A vintage mahogany and burr wood bureau in the Georgian fashion. The piece is constructed with a drop-front fall opening to reveal a fitted interior. The fall-front features a central burr wood panel, likely bird’s-eye maple, within a decorative cross-banded border. The interior writing surface is inset with a green leatherette top featuring a gold-tooled scrolling leaf border. The internal pigeonhole section is organised with multiple vertical and horizontal document slots and a small central drawer with a brass knob. The lower section comprises four graduated drawers, each fitted with brass swan-neck handles on decorative backplates. The bureau is supported by pull-out loper slides to secure the desk lid and stands on a bracket foot base. A decorative brass escutcheon and lock are present on the fall-front. A white adhesive lot label reading 822 is present on the side and fall-front.
