Lot 704: After Various Artists, A Group of Decorative Wall Plaques
A group of decorative wall plaques featuring printed reproductions after various 17th and 18th-century European masters. The subjects represented include a reproduction of Frans Hals’s ‘The Laughing Cavalier’, several female portraits in the manners of Jean-Baptiste Greuze and Elisabeth Vigée Le Brun, and various Dutch-style interior genre scenes depicting figures in domestic and tavern settings. Each print is mounted onto a wooden board finished with a simulated burr-wood veneer. The plaques are shaped as octagons or rectangles with clipped corners, and each is bordered by a raised, bicoloured braided cord trim in combinations of red and white, blue and white, or yellow and white. An auction lot label for Liskeard Auction Rooms is present on one plaque.
