Lot 512: Royal Doulton Earthenware Squat Globular Vase in an Autumnal Leaf Pattern
A Royal Doulton earthenware vase of squat, globular form, featuring a short neck and a small, slightly flared rim with a dark-glazed edge. The exterior is decorated with a continuous band of autumnal leaves in shades of orange, russet, and yellow, set against a rich, mottled deep cobalt blue ground. The interior is finished with a pale creamy-yellow glaze. The base bears a printed Royal Doulton factory mark in black, featuring a lion standing upon a crown above a four-interlocking D emblem, surrounded by the words Royal Doulton and Made in England. This mark indicates a production date after 1922. The base also carries the impressed numbers 6143 and a further small impressed mark 1.
Condition report:
The vase is in good overall condition. Fine crazing is visible to the glaze on the underside of the base, which is typical for earthenware of this age. No chips, cracks, or restorations are visible from the provided images. There is minor surface wear consistent with age.
