Lot 536: A Group of Decorative Metalware comprising Trinket Boxes and an Inlaid Dish
A group of four decorative metal items of varying styles and techniques. The collection includes a rectangular white metal trinket box raised on four scrolled feet; the hinged lid is decorated in relief with a figurative scene depicting 18th-century style characters in a landscape, with the sides featuring ornate foliate and scroll borders. A second rectangular box is of brass construction, featuring dense all-over cast foliate scrollwork on the lid and sides with a small hinged latch to the front. The group also contains an oval dish in the style of Indian Bidriware, constructed from a dark-patinated metal with silver-toned inlaid designs of a floral spray and birds, finished with a scalloped, lobed rim. The final item is a rectangular silver-toned white metal trinket box, the lid decorated in high relief with a cluster of roses and the sides featuring a textured engine-turned pattern.
