Lot 571: Two Vintage Fishing Reels, including an Allcock & Co. Scarborough Wooden Reel
A collection of two vintage fishing reels. The first is a wooden Scarborough-style centrepin reel, accompanied by a handwritten tag identifying it as an Allcock & Co. ‘Scarborough’ reel from the 1930s. The reel is constructed from polished wood with brass fittings, featuring twin handles mounted on brass plates, a central brass wing nut, and five circular ventilation holes. The second item is a dark brown or black centrepin or fly reel, possibly constructed from bakelite or ebonite. It features twin handles, a central metal wing nut, and a slotted metal reel foot. The dark reel remains partially spooled with fishing line.
Condition report:
Both reels show signs of age and previous use. The wooden reel displays surface scuffs to the timber and oxidation to the brass components. The dark reel shows surface wear, scuffs, and oxidation to the metal reel foot. Both reels appear to be in original, unrestored condition.
