Lot 580: Robert Taylor, Limited Edition Aviation Print, 617 Squadron 'The Dambusters' over Lincoln Cathedral Fifty Years On, 207/617
A framed limited edition aviation print after an original painting by the renowned artist Robert Taylor. This commemorative work, released in 1993, marks the fiftieth anniversary of No. 617 Squadron RAF, popularly known as ‘The Dambusters’. The scene depicts a formation including three Panavia Tornado GR1 aircraft and a historic Avro Lancaster bomber flying over the spires of Lincoln Cathedral. The print features the printed title ‘617 Squadron — “The Dambusters” over Lincoln Cathedral fifty years on’ along the lower margin. It is hand-signed in pencil by the artist, Robert Taylor, in the lower right margin and hand-numbered 207/617 in the lower left margin. The work is presented in a gilt-finished frame with a white mount under glass.
