Lot 175: A Trio of Antique Cast Iron Items including a Cambridge Iron Works Cobbler's Last
This lot comprises three antique cast iron objects of industrial and craft utility. The collection includes two shoemaker’s tools and a heavy-duty industrial vessel. The first is a traditional three-prong multi-size cobbler’s last used for various shoe repairs. The second is a single-foot shoe anvil on a pedestal stem, which features cast-in lettering to the upright reading CAMBRIDGE IRON. The third item is a heavy-walled industrial bucket or vessel, possibly an industrial crucible or agricultural hoist bucket, featuring a thick integrated metal bail handle with a large circular lifting ring at the apex. All items are constructed from solid cast iron.
