Lot 729: A Collection of Folio Society and Other Hardcover Volumes, Including Wilde, Hardy, and Isherwood
A collection of hardcover books, predominantly published by the Folio Society, many presented in their original protective paper-covered slipcases. The collection features various classic literary works and historical texts, primarily bound in octavo format. Visible titles include Oscar Wilde’s Salomé, George Cavendish’s Life of Wolsey, Thomas Hardy’s The Return of the Native, Harriette Wilson’s Memoirs, The Travels of Marco Polo, and Christopher Isherwood’s Mr Norris Changes Trains. The volumes are bound in decorative cloth and buckram with gilt-stamped or printed titles and ornamentation to the spines. Several volumes remain housed within their original slipcases. The Mr Norris Changes Trains volume features a distinctive patterned slipcase.
