Lot 605: A Collection of Royal Doulton Stoneware and Beatrix Potter Nursery Ware
This collection consists of four ceramic items, including two pieces of Royal Doulton stoneware and two pieces of Beatrix Potter nursery ware. The first item is a Royal Doulton Slaters Patent stoneware vase featuring a tapered form with a flared rim. The body is decorated using the Slaters Patent lace-impressed technique, featuring a textured surface with gilding, further embellished with hand-painted turquoise and white floral and foliate motifs. This central band is set between a cobalt blue base and neck, topped with a copper-brown glaze to the rim. The base features the circular Royal Doulton England lion and crown stamp, the impressed text Doulton & Slaters Patent, the number 1948, and the hand-painted pattern number X 5823. The second item is a Royal Doulton stoneware bowl with a ribbed tan exterior and a deep cobalt blue glazed interior. The upper exterior rim is decorated with small, applied relief floral sprigs. The base bears the Royal Doulton England lion and crown stamp and the incised number 7841. The remaining items are two pieces of fine earthenware nursery ware. One is a mug transfer-printed with a Beatrix Potter illustration of Flopsy, Mopsy, Cotton-tail, and Peter Rabbit, accompanied by the opening text of the story. The other is a shallow bowl transfer-printed with an illustration of Mrs. Rabbit and narrative text along the rim.
