Lot 163: A Vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear Die-cast 1909 Thomas Flyabout
A vintage Matchbox Models of Yesteryear die-cast 1909 Thomas Flyabout, finished in a metallic magenta paint scheme with gold-tone radiator, lamps, and windscreen frame. The car is constructed with a die-cast body and features a tan-coloured plastic interior with a fixed black plastic canopy. It is fitted with silver-painted spoked wheels and black rubber-like tyres. The base of the vehicle is embossed with ‘MADE IN ENGLAND BY LESNEY’, ‘1909 THOMAS FLYABOUT’, ‘BY COURTESY OF HARRAH COLLECTION RENO U.S.A.’, ‘MATCHBOX® NO Y-12’, and ‘MODELS OF YESTERYEAR’. The model is accompanied by its original cardboard window display box featuring a wood-effect top and decorative pink side panels.
