Lot 1022: An Antique Late Victorian Stained Hardwood Convertible Child's High Chair
An antique late Victorian stained hardwood convertible child’s high chair, likely dating from the late 19th or early 20th century. The chair features a spindled backrest with a shaped central splat incorporating a hand-grip cutout above a solid contoured wooden seat. The base is constructed with turned spindles and a hinged mechanism, supported by four small metal wheels to the lower section. This versatile design allows the piece to be converted from a standard high chair into a lower play chair or stroller. A wooden tray is attached via metal hinges and struts to serve as a dining surface or a play table. A modern auction tag is attached to the backrest reading HCP Auctions South West / Lot 1022. A fragmentary paper label is present on the frame near one of the central hinges, though the text is not clearly legible.
