Lot 615: A Collection of Vintage Mixed Metal and Glass Costume Jewellery
A collection of vintage mixed metal and glass costume jewellery, primarily featuring various brooch styles and a pair of clip-on earrings. The assortment includes a gold-tone novelty brooch shaped as a wide-brimmed sun hat with a mesh crown and two pearl-set floral accents. A sentimental silver-tone floral spray brooch features pink, green, and blue enamel flowers set with small rhinestones, with a white enamel banner inscribed Mother in blue script. Also present is a circular brooch with a transfer-printed Fragonard-style scene of a romantic couple within a gold-tone rope-twist border. The lot contains multiple floral-themed pieces, including a multi-layered gold-tone filigree flower set with a central faux pearl and a stylized flower with blue enameled edges and amber-coloured glass inserts. A pair of square-shaped clip-on earrings is densely set with clear rhinestones and remains on a retail card. A larger oval brooch features a faceted amber-coloured glass cabochon surrounded by clear rhinestones and glass beads. Further items include a gold-tone bow brooch with red enamel and an openwork abstract floral pin. One brooch is inscribed Mother in blue script on the front. The earring card bears a partial web address ending in rooms.co.uk and a handwritten price of £4.00. No further maker’s marks or hallmarks were observed.
Condition report:
The items are in vintage condition with visible age-related wear, including surface scratches and tarnishing to the metal finishes (photo 1). One silver-tone safety-pin style clasp is detached from its original piece (photo 1). The earring card is worn and bent (photo 1). Minor enamel loss is visible on the red bow brooch (photo 3). All glass stones, rhinestones, and pearls appear present upon visual inspection.
