Lot 619: A Pair of Mid-Century Hand-Blown Blue and Opalescent Art Glass Vases
A pair of mid-century hand-blown blue and opalescent art glass vases, each formed with a tall, tapering stem containing an internal spiral pattern of turquoise and cobalt blue glass. The vessels feature widely flared and ruffled rims in the fazzoletto fashion, executed in opalescent white glass with a delicate blue-tinted edge. The lower portion of each stem is embellished with an applied, stylized blue glass wrap-around detail resembling a wave or fin. Each vase is supported by a clear glass footed base composed of six fused lobes. The glass contains small internal air bubbles, or seeds, which are a characteristic feature of hand-blown production. No maker’s marks, signatures, or labels are visible on the underside or exterior of either piece.
Condition report:
The vases appear to be in good condition with no visible chips, cracks, or repairs to the ruffled rims or applied glass elements (photo 1). Small internal air bubbles are present within the glass (photo 2), which is consistent with the hand-blown manufacturing process. There is a light accumulation of surface dust.
