Lot 621: A Collection of Vintage Mid-Century Costume Jewellery Brooches
A collection of vintage mid-century costume jewellery brooches, featuring an assortment of figural and decorative designs. The lot includes a gold-toned Scottish thistle brooch with central enamel and a border of pink round-cut rhinestones, and a silver-toned brooch formed of interconnected stars set with clear paste stones. Also present are two oval porcelain brooches; one decorated with a transfer-printed pastoral scene in the Fragonard fashion and another with a hand-painted pink rosebud within a scalloped border. The assortment is further comprised of a polished musical treble clef, a woven basket brooch with porcelain rose accents, a rectangular relief-moulded bird plaque, and two openwork brooches set with brown glass cabochons. The pieces are presented on a wooden stand impressed with the mark LORD HALEY REG NO 8564. No maker’s marks were found on the jewellery itself.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition overall. There is light surface wear, minor scratching, and localized tarnish to the metal finishes consistent with age (photos 1 and 2). The enamel work and porcelain plaques show no visible damage or losses. All decorative stones appear to be present in their respective settings.
