Lot 737: A Collection of Thirteen Vintage Mixed Metal Enamel and Paste Set Brooches and Lapel Pins
A collection of thirteen vintage mixed metal enamel and paste set brooches and lapel pins, featuring a variety of commemorative, branded, and decorative designs from the late 20th century. The collection includes a small rectangular black enamel lapel pin with a readable printed mark reading Barbour. and a circular commemorative enamel badge for the Women’s World Championships, featuring a central red rose motif and an attached red banner reading 19-77. Also present are two circular novelty enamel badges featuring a beer glass graphic, with text reading PINT PULLERS around the top and PISS-UP around the bottom, finished in red and pink fields. The figural pieces include a three-dimensional ceramic hippo decorated with red floral patterns, a small gold-tone violin, and an oval brooch with a miniature printed portrait of the Mona Lisa. The foliate items consist of a pink moulded rose on gold-tone stems, a pair of overlapping gold-tone leaves, a stylised black enamel leaf set with a line of clear paste stones, and a silver-tone leaf spray. The group is completed by a gold-tone bar brooch set with a central rectangular paste stone flanked by six circular stones, and a stick pin with a porcelain-style oval plaque featuring green foliage. Pin mechanisms include safety catches, C-clasps, and a single stick pin.
Condition report:
The collection is in good vintage condition overall. There is minor surface wear and light oxidation consistent with age to several of the metal surfaces (photo 1). All paste stones appear to be present and intact in the bar brooch and foliate designs (photo 3). The enamel work on the commemorative and Barbour pins remains vibrant without significant loss or cracking (photo 2). The hippo brooch shows no visible chips to the ceramic-style body (photo 2).
