Lot 771: A Vintage Set of Five Hand-painted Earthenware Tea / Coffee Cups and Saucers
A vintage set of hand-painted earthenware tea / coffee cups and saucers, comprising five cups and five matching saucers. Each piece features a stylised floral decoration depicting tulips in terracotta and muted mauve with green foliage, set against a mottled, sponged-effect background in taupe and brown. The cups are of tapered cylindrical form with flared rims and simple loop handles, while the interiors are finished with a plain cream glaze. No manufacturer marks, backstamps, or signatures are visible on any of the pieces. A white paper lot tag is present, printed with HCP Auctions South West, Lot 771, and www.hcpauctions.net.
Condition report:
The set appears to be in overall fair condition. Fine surface crazing is visible to the glaze on several pieces (photo 1), which is characteristic of this type of earthenware body. There are some minor dark marks on the interior of one cup (photo 1). No significant chips, cracks, or professional repairs are immediately apparent from the overview photograph.
