Lot 877: A Late Victorian Dark-stained Hardwood Side Chair
A Late Victorian dark-stained hardwood side chair, featuring a broad curved yoke-top rail over a single horizontal mid-splat supported by two turned uprights. The chair is fitted with a fixed padded seat upholstered in a cream-coloured patterned damask-style fabric. The dark-stained wooden frame is constructed with turned front legs and shows significant character consistent with age. A modern white adhesive auction lot label is affixed to the yoke-top rail, printed vertically HCP Auctions South West and horizontally Lot 877.

Condition report:
The chair is in fair condition and requires restoration. Significant wear and loss to the dark wood finish is visible on the top rail and uprights (photo 1). The frame shows various scuffs, scratches, and indentations consistent with age and use throughout (photo 1). The seat upholstery is heavily soiled, displaying multiple prominent orange and brown stains and general discolouration across the fabric surface (photo 1).
