Lot 508: A Trio of Mid-20th Century Decorative Items Including a Splendex Mantel Clock, an Aneroid Barometer, and a Novelty Boat Lamp
This lot comprises three mid-20th-century decorative items of British interest. The first is a Splendex transistorised mantel clock featuring a rectangular wooden case with vertical Greek key meander pattern bands flanking the dial. The circular brass-finish dial is printed with Roman numerals and is marked Splendex, 7 Transistor, and Made in Gt Britain. It is fitted with an older-style brown power cord and plug. The second item is an aneroid barometer set within a scrolling black-finished metal frame, accented by four gilt-finished maple leaves. The dial features standard meteorological terms and a small circular logo in the centre containing the letters SB. The third item is a folk art style wooden model of a boat, designed as a table lamp with the light socket positioned in the funnel. The model features painted portholes and rope railing details.
Condition report:
The clock shows surface wear and minor scratching to the dial. The barometer is in generally good vintage condition with light dust and minor oxidation to the gilt accents. The boat lamp shows signs of age and wear from handling, with the rope railing being partially detached or missing in some sections. All electrical items are sold as untested and require professional safety testing prior to use.
