Lot 589: A Studio Glass Oil Lamp and a Pair of Vintage Wire-Rim Spectacles with Case
A contemporary studio glass oil lamp and a set of vintage personal effects. The hand-blown glass lamp features a globular reservoir of clear glass containing internal swirled inclusions of amber and deep brown tones. The reservoir is supported by a pedestal base consisting of two entwined opaque white glass stems, terminating in a clear circular foot decorated with a concentric white ring. The lamp is fitted with a central glass wick holder and an unused cotton wick. A modern paper safety label is affixed to the base with red and black text including the word WARNING. The lot also includes a pair of gold-tone wire-frame spectacles with an arched bridge and curved earpieces, accompanied by a period hardshell case.
Condition report:
The glass oil lamp is in excellent condition with no visible chips, cracks, or wear. The spectacles are in poor condition with one lens missing or broken and slight deformation to the frames. The spectacle case is in extremely poor condition, exhibiting heavy oxidation, significant material loss, and surface crumbling.
