Lot 730: A late 20th-century cane and bamboo-style two-seater conservatory sofa
A late 20th-century two-seater conservatory sofa or loveseat, constructed with a bent cane and bamboo-style pole frame in the style of Ficks Reed. The design features decorative lattice-work panels to the side supports and the front apron. The piece is fitted with four loose, foam-filled cushions, including two seat and two backrest cushions, upholstered in a polychrome geometric patterned fabric on a cream ground. The lot includes three non-matching scatter cushions in olive green velvet-effect, blue corduroy, and a yellow patterned fabric. A white rectangular auction lot tag is attached to the right arm with illegible handwritten characters. No maker’s marks or manufacturer labels are present on the frame or upholstery.
Condition report:
The item is in fair used condition and shows significant condition issues. The cane frame is structurally sound with surface scuffing and wear consistent with age. The upholstery is intact but shows typical signs of use and significant fading. The cushions appear to have retained their shape.
