Buyer's Premium:

The first volume is a Victorian Family Bible published by A. Fullarton and Co., London and Edinburgh, dating to the mid-to-late 19th century. It contains the Old and New Testaments and is illustrated with steel-engraved topographical views including Mount Zion, Jerusalem and Bethlehem. It includes a colour lithographic plate titled The Jewish Tabernacle, with Holy of Holies, etc. depicting the interior of the Tabernacle. The second volume is a commemorative work documenting the life and reign of King Edward VIII, likely published in 1936. The content serves as a retrospective of his life up to his accession, including chapters on his early life, naval education, and investiture as Prince of Wales. It features photographic records of overseas tours, including the 1920 tour of Australia and the 1921 tour of India and Nepal. The volume includes a full-page colour portrait of the King in naval uniform. The binding is quarto/folio size, bound in dark cloth with the front board decorated with gilt-tooled borders and a central gilt motif of a chalice or urn.

Condition report:

The Victorian Family Bible shows significant and widespread foxing throughout the text block and on several plates. The pages exhibit age-related yellowing and edge wear. The King Edward VIII volume shows heavy wear to the binding, with significant scuffing and loss to the surface material on the front board. Interior pages of the commemorative volume show light age-toning and occasional minor foxing, though the photographic plates generally remain clear.
