Lot 993: A mid-20th-century utilitarian pine shop display cabinet with two drawers
A single-piece utilitarian shop display or workshop cabinet of pine construction. The unit features two side-hinged glazed doors, though one pane of glass is missing. The interior is divided into three equal compartments by two vertical wooden partitions and shows remnants of a light-coloured paint or wash. To the left side is a vertical bank of two short drawers, each fitted with a weathered metal cup handle. The doors are attached with simple metal butt hinges and one door is fitted with a small turned wooden knob. The back panel is a later replacement made of hardboard or thin plywood.
Condition report:
The cabinet exhibits significant signs of age and industrial use, including staining, surface wear, and scratches to the pine. The drawer interiors show heavy staining. One pane of glass is missing. The back panel is a later replacement.
