Lot 997: A late 20th-century Regency style mahogany finished drinks and entertainment cabinet
A multi-functional drinks cabinet or entertainment unit in the Regency reproduction style, dating from the late 20th century. The piece is constructed with mahogany veneers over a secondary wood core. The cabinet is divided into three sections: a central unit and two swinging side cabinets. The central section features a lift-up top lid on piano hinges opening to a storage well, above a single door with a shaped glazed pane and an internal wooden shelf. The side sections swing open on piano hinges to reveal interiors fitted with multiple narrow glass shelves designed for bottle and glassware storage. Decorative features include a gadrooned carved edge to the front of the top surface, a shaped apron, and bracket feet. The unit is fitted with decorative cast brass-style hardware, including drop handles and an ornamental central handle. No maker’s marks are present, though the style is consistent with UK reproduction furniture manufacturers. A handwritten tag is present on one handle with the text Entertainment unit 2010.
Condition report:
The item is in good used condition. The wood finish is bright with minor surface scuffing and dust consistent with age and domestic use. All glass shelving is present, with some pieces currently held in place with protective tape. All hinges and hardware are intact and functional.
