Lot 418: A Collection of Denby Stoneware Tableware including Chevron Pattern Items
This assortment of mid-century stoneware tableware is produced by Denby (Bourne & Son Ltd) and includes items from the Chevron and related pattern series. The collection is presented in two distinct colourways: a two-tone amber-brown and white, and a speckled cream finish. A defining feature of these pieces is the vertical engine-turned ribbing located around the base of the bodies. The lot includes multiple mugs and cups, a lidded sugar bowl with a brown circular design on the lid, cream jugs, and a selection of saucers and side plates. A dealer label is present on one piece identifying the maker as Denby Bourne. The stoneware exhibits the robust construction and varied glazes characteristic of Denby production from the mid-20th century.
Condition report:
The collection appears to be in good used condition. There is minor surface wear and light scratching consistent with age and previous domestic use. No major chips, cracks, or repairs were noted during visual inspection. Professional inspection is recommended for a full assessment of each individual piece.
